Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
